Play Rules:
- The first male child is heir and carries on the father's name, Thomas Stonage.
- The family must live in a castle. Off the grid isn't necessary, but only natural sources can be used for light (candles, lanterns, etc.,) and appliances must be as old-looking or primitive as possible.
- With each pregnancy, there is a 20% chance that the mother die during childbirth, a 15% chance that both mother and child will die, and a 10% chance that the child will die. (Life Expectancy in the Middle Ages - Sarah Woodbury)
- After every third child is born, one of them will die. (Life Expectancy in the Middle Ages - Sarah Woodbury)
- After the king's heir is born, the king has a 25% chance of death. (middle ages - What was the life expectancy of a Medieval European monarch? - History Stack Exchange)
- The hierarchy for everything (eating, sleeping, showering, using the toilet, etc.,) is: King, heir, queen, other male children in order of age, female children, other household members.
- If a king dies before he has an heir, the queen will become ruler until she marries and has a son who will then become king. The hierarchy then becomes: Queen, heir, queen's husband (not a king), other male children in order of age, female children, other household members.
- The king and queen must be married, but the king may have mistresses. However, no child from a mistress is eligible to be heir unless the king has no male children with the queen because either the king or queen grew too old to be able to have a male child.
